CALISTOGA, Calif. - Junior center Greta Kohlmoos scored three total goals while senior Hannah Harvey netted two more in the nightcap, but 17th-ranked UC Davis dropped both of its Saturday games at the LouStrong Memorial women’s water polo tournament, hosted by San Jose State at West Valley College Aquatic Center. The Aggies fell, 21-2, to top-ranked Stanford in the morning matchup, then lost by a 15-6 final to No. 12 Pacific in Saturday’s early-evening game. Kohlmoos was the only UC Davis player to score in each contest. She put the Aggies on the board with a goal from set to start the second quarter against Stanford, then netted a pair of two-meter strikes in the nightcap against Pacific. Harvey scored both of her goals from the perimeter, connecting with 17 seconds left in the first quarter then adding another early in the fourth. Both contests saw the Aggies’ opponents run up early scoreless starts. The Cardinal scored eight unanswered in the first quarter before Kohlmoos’ goal interrupted the run. Stanford then led 13-1 at the break and by as much as 15-1 in the third before UC Davis freshman Chloe Robinson put away her first collegiate goal. Similarly, the Tigers scored six straight in the first seven minutes of play until Harvey stopped the drought. Pacific led 7-1 through the first quarter, 9-2 at the halftime break, and 13-3 through three frames. UC Davis outscored the Tigers in the final quarter, with Harvey and Kohlmoos hitting back-to-back in the opening minutes. Freshman Audrey Taylor also scored her first Aggie goal with just 11 ticks remaining in the contest. Freshman Caitlin Golding and senior Avery Dotterer split the goalie chores against Stanford. Dotterer then earned the start against Pacific, finishing with a career-high 13 saves. UC Davis faces No. 3 UCLA (11:30 a.m.) and the No. 14 hosts (3 p.m.) in Sunday’s portion of the seven-team, 12-game tournament. 2017 LOUSTRONG MEMORIAL WOMEN’S WATER POLO TOURNAMENT
