SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Sophomore Alia Hansen scored a career-high four goals and Alli Johnstone and Mary Dentice each added two more as UC Davis posted a 14-4 win over Santa Clara in a women's collegiate water polo match at Leavey Pool Saturday. The Aggies, playing in their second contest of the day, even their season record to 1-1. The Broncos drop to 2-1 overall.

Senior Shannon McGee, junior Missy Duncan, sophomores Nicole Lorrimer and Brittany Russell, and freshmen Kristin Pfaff and Michaela Brady all scored for UC Davis. Kelsey Whalen started in net for the Aggies and recorded five first-half saves in 14 shutout minutes. Freshman Nicole Ho stopped three Bronco attempts in the second half.

For Santa Clara, senior Becky Hong led with two goals while Kelley Mays and Bryn Asher each added one score.

UC Davis enjoyed a consistent offensive output, scoring three goals in each of the first two quarters to build a 6-0 lead, then piling up four goals in each of the third and fourth quarters. Johnstone and Dentice each scored both of their goals in the fourth period to seal the win.

The game was the second contest of the day for UC Davis, as the Aggies had suffered an 8-4 loss at San Jose State for their season opener. UC Davis competes in another Bay Area doubleheader Sunday, with games at Stanford and Cal St. Hayward.
