LA JOLLA, Calif. - Sophomore Cassie Schaefer scored two goals and senior Jenny Stephanopoulos scored a game-winner to lead 13th-ranked UC Davis to a 4-3 win over 12th-ranked Michigan in the first game of the UC San Diego Invitational women's water polo tournament Saturday morning.

The Aggies, now 5-1 on the season, will face San Diego State later in the day's tourney action.

Schaefer scored one goal in each of the first two quarters of play, as both teams entered halftime in a 2-2 deadlock. Sophomore center Katherine O'Rourke added a score in the third period, which ended in a 3-3 tie.

Finally, in the fourth period, Stephanopolous scored the game-winner and Aggie goaltender Nicole Hall had two late saves to lift UC Davis to the win. Hall posted nine total saves for the match.

The UCSD Invite continues on Sunday, February 6.
