STANFORD, Calif. - Sophomore Cassie Schaefer and senior Nicole Lorrimer each scored a total of three goals in two games as UC Davis fell to top-ranked UCLA, 13-1, then lost to No. 11 San Jose State in an 8-7 battle during the first day at the Stanford Invitational women's water polo tournament Saturday.

The Aggies even their record to 6-6 for the year.

Lorrimer scored two goals and Schaefer added the third in UC Davis' loss to UCLA. UC Davis head coach Jamey Wright was pleased overall with his team's performance.

"It was as good as 13-3 loss as a team could ask for," he said. "We played great defense and forced UCLA to take outside shots. THey just happen to be very good outside shooters."

Schaefer then added two more while freshman Christi Raycraft matched that total in the nightcap against the Spartans. The Aggies led SJSU by a 3-1 margin after one quarter, but the game was locked at 4-4 at the half and 6-6 after three quarters.

Lorrimer, Katherine O'Rourke and Sarah Rees each added a goal in the loss to the Spartans. Lina Moore posted eight saves in net during the nightcap.
