STOCKTON, Calif. - Seniors Tiffany Hodgens and Alli Johnstone each scored a game-high four goals while sophomore Jennie Chiavetta added two more to lead UC Davis to a 14-3 win over Pacific in women's collegiate water polo action Friday.

The Aggies improve to 5-2 with the win.

UC Davis led 3-1 after the first quarter and 7-1 at the half. Johnstone was the first player on either team to score, punching in her first goal at the 5:46 mark in the first quarter. Tiger freshman Morgan Diehl tied it up with a 6-on-5 goal at 5:14, but the Aggies responded with six unanswered goals through the remainder of the half, then added another early in the third to build an 8-1 lead.

"One of the best things about this game was that everyone played," said UC Davis head coach Jamey Wright. "No one played more than 19 minutes and no one played less than 10. And we got contributions from everyone."

Annie Preble, Katherine O'Rourke, Crisara Abrams and Brittany Russell also provided a goal apiece for UC Davis in the win. Amanda Tucker and Dana Hilderbrand each scored a third-quarter goal for Pacific.

"We worked really hard this week, harder than we had all season," said Wright. "I was afraid we would be beat up, because it becomes a question of whether it was too much or the right amount. But we repsonded well. Of our 14 goals, more than half were on counterattacks."

Nicole Hall posted five saves in the first half for UC Davis, then Meggan Brownrigg played out the second half, compiling six saves.

The Aggies return home on February 20 for a game against Cal St. Northridge, which serves as the prelude for the Davis Shootout tournament on February 21 and 22.
