DAVIS, Calif. - Junior center Greta Kohlmoos scored four goals while junior Paige Virgil added three to lead 12th-ranked UC Davis to a 12-6 victory over No. 24 CSU Bakersfield during Sunday's portion of the Aggie Shootout women's water polo tournament at Schaal Aquatics Center.

The Aggies improve to 7-11 for the year.

Sunday's contest marked the third time Kohlmoos scored four goals in UC Davis' three Shootout games. She hit that total in Saturday's games against No. 11 Pacific and Sonoma State. She netted a goal in each quarter against the Roadrunners. Virgil hit a natural and a penalty shot in the first quarter, then completed her hat trick as part of her team's 4-0 finish to the game.

Senior Hannah Harvey added two goals for the Aggies, while Kathleen Schafle, Annie Kutt and McKenna Hauss each scored.

CSUB hung tough in the first half, even drawing first blood with an Ashley Paz goal two minutes into the contest. Kohlmoos answered on the next possession, but the Roadrunners reclaimed the lead with Kristen Jensen's score at the 3:20 mark. Then Virgil netted two while Harvey added a third in a 3-0 Aggie finish to the quarter, putting the hosts on top by a 4-2 margin.

Schafle and Kohlmoos each scored in the second quarter to push UC Davis to a 6-3 edge at halftime, then Kohlmoos and Kutt opened the third quarter to extend the advantage to 8-3.

CSUB responded with three straight to cut its deficit to 8-6 with 6:06 left in the fourth. However, Jensen's 6-on-5 score proved to be the 'Runners last. Hauss and Kohlmoos scored back-to-back to kick off the run of four unanswered to finish the contest.

Senior goalkeeper Avery Dotterer guarded the cage for the full 32 minutes, blocking 13 shots with just the six goals against while adding a steal.

UC Davis returns to action for a doubleheader at Santa Clara with visiting Cal State Monterey Bay on Saturday.
