NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. - No. 14 UC Davis split its Sunday contests to finish 10th at the UCI Invitational women's water polo tournament, which features a field of entirely Top 20 teams. The Aggies defeated No. 13 UC Santa Barbara, 13-7, then lost to No. 16 Loyola Marymount in games held at Corona Del Mar High School, finishing one place better than their No. 11 seed in the tourney.

UC Davis moves to 7-7 for the year.

Seniors Jessica Dunn and Carmen Eggert each scored three goals in the win over the Gauchos, as did junior center Hannah Curran. Adding her seven goals from Saturday's portion of the UCI Invite and another in Sunday's finisher with LMU, Curran completed the weekend with a team-high 11.

Elsie Fullerton added two goals and Danelle Kenny and Courtney Weddle each punched in one to round out the Aggies' scoring in Sunday afternoon's early game. UC Davis held a 5-4 lead through the first quarter, maintained that margin with a 7-6 edge at the halftime break, but piled up six goals in the second half to pull away with the win.

Sophomore Jillian Wilding recorded six saves in each game.

The ninth-place match with LMU took an opposite flavor as both teams matched each other goal for goal until the Lions put up six after the intermission. Fullerton and Eggert each scored two goals while Dunn netted the fifth.

UC Davis returns home to host the two-day Aggie Shootout on March 2 and 3. The Aggies will face Concordia, Santa Clara and Colorado State, all in Saturday's session.
