DAVIS, Calif. - Seniors Carmen Eggert and Jessica Dunn scored a combined 17 goals to lead 14th-ranked UC Davis to three wins on the first day of action at the 33rd Aggie Shootout women's water polo tournament at Schaal Aquatics Center Saturday. The Aggies beat Concordia, 14-9; Santa Clara, 8-4; and Colorado State, 13-6.

UC Davis improves to 10-7 for the season.

Eggert scored a game-high five goals in the morning victory over the Eagles, then finished the day with a four-goal performance against the Rams. She also stung Colorado State for five of her seven total steals on the day. Against SCU, Eggert did not score a goal but assisted on two while drawing five exclusions.

Dunn led the Aggies with four goals in Saturday's closest contest, the four-goal victory over the Broncos. She scored two in the first quarter to help UC Davis craft a 3-1 start, then added a 6-on-5 conversion and a natural goal to stretch a 4-3 margin to a 7-4 lead through three quarters. Dunn also tallied seven assists in the three games.

Senior Riane Woods announced her full recovery from injuries that had sidelined her previously in the season. She posted 14 saves against the Broncos, including two against SCU power plays and one against a five-meter penalty shot. Woods added another seven stops in three quarters against Colorado State. Other key contributors included Keelia Houston, who managed six goals (three against Colorado State). Senior attacker Hannah Breen chipped in a goal and two assists in the nightcap against Colorado State.

Save for a 1-0 start in the Concordia game, UC Davis never trailed in any of the three contests. Eggert scored two in a 4-0 run early in the morning victory over the Eagles, then hit 6-on-5 goals in each of the second and third quarters to ensure at least a four-goal margin down the stretch.

In Saturday's nightcap, five different Aggies connected in a run of five unanswered, breaking loose from a 4-3 margin midway through the second period to a 9-3 edge with 4:10 left in the third.

The Aggie Shootout continues with another four matches on Sunday. UC Davis returns to action for Big West Conference play at Cal State Northridge and UC Santa Barbara on March 8 and 9.
