LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The seventh-ranked Loyola Marymount University women's water polo team raced to an 8-1 lead after three quarters on their way to a 9-4 win over 13th-ranked UC Davis in a Western Water Polo Association game at the Burns Recreation and Aquatics Center Wednesday afternoon.
With the loss the Aggies fall to 18-9 on the season while LMU improves to 17-4.
LMU scored the first three goals of the game to take a 3-1 lead into halftime. UC Davis did not get on the board until the second quarter.
In the third period the Lions blew it open as they scored four unanswered goals. Teresa Guidi had three in the quarter while Sarah Hamilton added her second of the game as LMU carried a 7-1 lead into the fourth period.
The lead grew to 8-1 before UC Davis scored three straight goals to cut the margin to 8-4. But they got no closer as Hamilton added her third goal of the contest to close out the scoring.
UC Davis will next be in action on Sunday when it hosts Long Beach State at 1:30 p.m.
