LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Jessica Wong scored three first-half goals to lead second-seeded UC San Diego to a 10-6 win over third-seeded UC Davis in the semifinal game of the Western Water Polo Association Championships at Loyola Marymount Saturday.

The Aggies, ranked 12th nationally by U.S. Water Polo, drops to 20-11 on the year. The Tritons improve to 15-19 overall. This marks the third straight year that UC San Diego has eliminated UC Davis from the tournament, of which the winner advances to the NCAA Championships.

Annie Preble and Tiffany Hodgens each led the Aggies with two goals each, while Kristin Pfaff and Brittany Russell added one apiece. Nicole Hall played all four quarters in net, posting four saves and an assist.

Both of Hodgens goals came in the first quarter, helping UC Davis stay within one goal of UCSD. But the Tritons broke loose for four unanswered goals in the second quarter to take a 7-2 lead at halftime.

"We gave up too many easy goals and they got a four-goal cushion," said Aggie head coach Jamey Wright. "They hustled well on defense and we just got tight. We were not as clean and precise as we needed to be in a game of this magnitude."

Toby Lyman also scored twice for UCSD. In all, seven different Triton players appeared on the scoring column.

The Aggies will face Cal St. Bakersfield in the tournament's third-place game at 12:45 Sunday.
