DAVIS, Calif. — UC Davis senior Paige Virgil scored her second Big West Conference Women’s Water Polo Player of the Week award in the 2018 season for the competition week of February 12-18, as announced by the league office Wednesday afternoon. This marks her fourth career honor, the third of which were received last week (Feb. 14).
The utility player from Murrieta, California, scored a total of seven goals over the four games, five of which were scored in the 18-9 victory over No. 23 Fresno State, to help UC Davis finish with a 3-1 record at the Aggie Shoot-Out tournament. The other two goals were contributed to the 15-6 win in their tournament’s debut game against Santa Clara.
Aside from goals scored, Virgil also called up five steals and four drawn exclusions over the four games.
Virgil currently leads the scoreboard for the Aggies in goals and steals with totals of 34 and 26, respectively.
No. 10 UC Davis returns to action this weekend to participate in the Santa Clara Invitational, their last scheduled tournament of the 2018 season.
