TO RECAP: UC Davis (12-12, 0-3) took a week-long break for the university's final examinations after packing in five contests on the March 15-18 weekend... The Aggies lost three road games to Top 20 teams by four total goals: a 9-7 Big West Conference setback to No. 7 San Diego State, a 6-5 loss to No. 12 Princeton, then a 7-6 upset to No. 17 UC San Diego... The Aztec Invite ended a stretch of five straight road losses in which the margins were one or two goals... UC Davis followed that with two home wins over Harvard and Fresno Pacific, compiling 33 goals on a rare Monday doubleheader.

CAREER RANKINGS/RECORDS WATCH: Senior Jessica Dunn has 45 goals and 38 assists through 24 games, bringing her career totals to 193 goals, 133 assists and 326 points... She ranks 2nd all-time in goals and points while continuing to add to her school record in assists... Dunn's season total puts her 3rd in school history, behind her own 2011 total (40) and Sofia Patronas' 2009 record (42)... Senior Carmen Eggert's 56 goals puts her 6th on the Aggies' single-season list (and one off her career high)... At 165 career goals, she moved past Katherine O'Rourke (154 from 2004-07) for 3rd in program history.... Eggert also tied Christi Raycraft (2005-08) for 3rd in career points with 250, while moving into 5th in career steals (146)... Senior Riane Woods totaled 44 saves during the previous weekend, lifting her career sum to 472... She passed Molly Morris (1997-99) for 2nd all-time.

UP NEXT: The Aggies resume conference play with home contests against UC Irvine and Long Beach State... Based on the March 20 poll, this weekend marks the first time UC Davis will face back-to-back Top-10 teams in conference play.

NO. 7 UC IRVINE (13-7) ended its streak of 15 straight Big West wins with a 12-11 sudden-victory defeat against No. 8 Hawai'i back on March 14... Junior Hannah Croghan scored four goals in the loss... Freshman center McKenna Mitchell and senior center Kelsey Klatt (younger sister of UCI head coach Dan Klatt) share the Anteaters' team lead with 29 goals this season... Goalkeeper Jillian Yocum has 169 saves against just 104 goals (.619)... The `Eaters have won all four Big West Conference titles thus far; two-time league MVP Jessy Cardey is redshirting the 2013 season.

No. 9 LONG BEACH STATE (19-4, 0-2) lost a 6-5 thriller to San Diego State on Friday before picking off wins over Brown and Redlands by a combined 21-4 on Saturday... The 49ers led 2-0 through the first 12 minutes of play before surrendering a 4-0 run through the third, then battled back to a 4-4 tie with three minutes left in the fourth against the No. 6 Aztecs... Hole set Kayla Robert and defender Christina Kotsia each scored two against SDSU, then Kotsia totaled four goals in the Saturday wins over the Bears and Bulldogs... Junior driver Chelsea Parks leads LBSU with 45 goals while Kelly Ringel has 175 goals and a stingy 5.15 goals-against average.

"I spent the weekend going through those five losses in a row. I tracked every play and looked for trends. Not surprisingly, I saw our shots-to-turnover ratio was pretty good in the first half. In the second half, it was terrible. Our goals per quarter in the first half was okay. In the second half, it was not good. If you're not scoring at one end, then every little miscue on defense is exaggerated. It makes a big difference. If you continue to make your 6-on-5s throughout the game, and you continue to put the pressure on them, the odds will be more in your favor."

"To me, our focus is on good offensive execution: trying to make something good each time. This week, we'll put a lot of emphasis on our front-court offense. We'll still work on defense and 6-on-5s but I think it's about playing good offense. If you play good defense early in the game and get up by three goals, you lose your focus offensively. We have to keep doing what we're doing to get that lead. If you're down three goals, maybe you have to force that pass. When you're up, you have to run the clock and give them as few possessions as possible. Every time we take a quick shot or give up a turnover, we shorten that shot clock and increase their number of possessions by one. If we lose by one goal, it's because we gave them those extra possessions."
