DAVIS, Calif. — The UC Davis women’s water polo team announced its 2018 season awards in its annual team banquet that took place at the Putah Creek Lounge on Saturday, June 2, while the women’s water polo coaching staff unveiled the team co-captains of the 2019 season on Tuesday afternoon.
Five different team awards were given to the following selected players during the end-of-the-season banquet: senior Paige Virgil claimed the MWP Award, junior Emily Aikema received the Aggie Pride Award, junior Annie Kutt got the Cronk Tenacious Defense Award, senior Greta Kohlmoos won the Team Scholar-Athlete Award, and junior Marcela Portales garnered the Most Improved Award.
This week, head coach Jamey Wright and associate head coach Kandace Waldthaler officially announced the team captains for the upcoming season. Replacing outgoing captains Virgil and Kohlmoos are threesome McKenna Hauss, Kutt, and Portales.
The UC Davis women's water polo team went 18-12 for the 2018 season, placing fourth for the second time in-a-row at the Big West tournament, and finishing 10th in the final national coaches’ poll.
