UCLA 15, HARTWICK 2

Junior driver Kelly Rulon scored four goals while her younger sister, Katie, was one of four Bruins to add a pair of goals, as third-seeded UCLA (26-4) topped seventh-seed Hartwick College (27-10) by a 15-2 final in the second match of the 2006 National Collegiate Water Polo Championships at UC Davis' Schaal Aquatics Center Friday.

After more than three minutes of scoreless play, sophomore Gabrielle Domanic scored on a counterattack goal midway in the first period, then assisted Tanya Gandy on a second transition score a minute later to open UCLA to a 2-0 edge. Kelly Rulon then stretched the Bruin lead to 4-0 with back-to-back goals from the one position. Rulon connected on her fourth goal on a 6-on-5 opportunity midway through the second to help UCLA push its lead to 6-0 at the halftime break.

The younger Rulon scored back-to-back goals of her own, then assisted Anne Belden on a cross-tank pass during a 7-0 run in the third period, helping the Bruins extend their shutout advantage to 13. Hartwick sophomore Bronwen Knox finally put her team on the board in the final minute of the third, converting a man-up opportunity just as UCLA was returning to even strength.

Freshman utility Teresa Fleming scored the Hawks' second goal, firing a shot from six meters out and finding the low left corner with 2:55 remaining in the game.

Besides the Rulon sisters, Kacy Kunkel, Tanya Gandy and Gabrielle Domanic each scored two goals for UCLA.

The Bruins take on No. 2 seed Stanford in Saturday's 7:30 p.m. semifinal game. Hartwick will face Marist at 4:30 on Saturday.
