HISTORY AGAINST JESSUP
UC Davis and Jessup have played four times previously all in Davis with the Aggies winning all four contests, including a 72-35 victory over the Warriors just shy of a year ago on the calendar on Nov. 3, 2015. UC Davis was a 96-32 winner the first time the teams ever met on Jan. 1, 2020, while also winning the meetings during the 2022-23 and 2023-24 campaigns by scores of 76-30 and 79-40, respectively.
FIRST SEASON IN THE MOUNTAIN WEST
UC Davis will be playing in its first season in the Mountain West in 2026-27. The Aggies were previously a member of the Big West for 19 seasons from the 2007-08 through 2025-26 campaigns. UC Davis went through a four-year Division I transition period from 2003-07.
AGGIES CHOSEN THIRD IN MOUNTAIN WEST PRESEASON POLL
UC Davis was selected third in the 2026-27 Mountain West preseason poll behind only UNLV and Grand Canyon. Teams following the Aggies in the poll for the 10-team league included Hawaii, New Mexico, Air Force, Wyoming, Nevada, UTEP and San Jose State.
HISTORY OF SUCCESS IN BIG WEST AND BEYOND
UC Davis was consistently one of the top teams in the Big West since joining the league for the 2007-08 campaign with the Aggies winning five consecutive Big West regular-season crowns (2017-21) and a pair of conference tournaments (2019, '21) to take the league's automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament. The Aggies also reached the Big Dance in 2010-11. Since completing the transition to Division I prior to the 2007-08 campaign, UC Davis has posted a record of 366-227 (.617). The Aggies have boasted eight 20-win seasons in Division I play, including each of the last three seasons and also for three consecutive campaigns from 2017-20, including a Division I school-record 28 victories in 2016-17 that are also the second-most in school history.
HEAD COACH JENNIFER GROSS
The architect behind much of UC Davis' success is 16th-year head coach Jennifer Gross. In her first 15 seasons as the Aggies' head coach, Gross has continued the tradition of excellence instilled in her throughout her entire Aggie career first as a school-record setter and one of the greatest point guards to ever don an Aggie uniform, then as an assistant coach and associate head coach when she turned UC Davis into an immediate force by implementing one of the most effective offensive schemes in the game. In addition to the five regular-season Big West crowns (2017-21) and pair of conference tournament titles (2019, '21) to earn the league's automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament, Gross has compiled a 281-177 (.614) overall record that makes her the winningest coach in program history including a 168-83 (.669) in conference games. Her last 11 Aggie teams have been better than .500 overall, while her past 13 squads have posted a conference mark of .500 or better. Gross was the first women's basketball coach in the history of the Big West to win five consecutive Coach of the Year awards (2017-21) and a finalist for the WBCA National Coach of the Year in 2018.
2026-27 ROSTER
UC Davis has seven returnees and seven newcomers on its 2026-27 roster. G Avery Sussex and F Tegan Young are the team's returnees starters with Sussex starting all 34 games in 2025-26 and Young starting 33 of the 34. Sussex, a preseason All-Mountain West pick, was the team's third-leading scorer in 2025-26 with an average of 12.3 points per game and made 82 three-pointers that were fourth all-time at UC Davis and just four shy of the school record of 86 twice posted by Kelsey Harris (2013-14, 2014-15) and once by Evanne Turner (2023-24). Young averaged 6.4 points and 4.2 rebounds per contest a year ago. The team's other returnees are G Carrington Davis, G Emmy Ersdala, G Sahana Kanagasabay, G Sophie Lentfer and F Theoni Tsami.
